Wanganui’s design programme was the first of its type in New Zealand. The Wanganui School of Design emerged in the late 1980s and soon gained an international reputation for experimental work in new media and graphic design. Spacious studio environments attract students and staff from many parts of the world, all focused on working through a process of creative collaboration, extending the boundaries of existing talents. Its computer suites are among the best in the Pacific Rim, with
state-of-the-art technology for multimedia authoring, graphic design exploration and digital imaging. The focus is to develop successful and effective solutions, not only to relevant questions of today, but also to those that will fuel and inspire the fields of design that are just around the corner. Courses are therefore highly interactive and designed with an awareness
of emerging trends.
