In 1987, the design firm Billy Blue Creative decided to open a tiny design school to train people who would eventually work in their studio. A crowd of about four was expected. Instead, sixty-six people enrolled and there was a long waiting list. In essence, the school was founded by industry for industry and has been building
on that philosophy ever since. The school offers two core study streams Communication Design and Multimedia Design - at both vocational and higher education levels. Billy Blue is in partnership with Swinburne University’s Faculty of Design to deliver the Bachelor of Design in Sydney. Its positive partnership with creative industry practitioners is the key to the school’s reputation and success. It is consistently engaged with experts in the field to ensure that students are learning the most valuable ways
to generate ideas, skills and abilities to sustain future practice.
