Michael Scott-Mitchell studied Architecture before continuing his studies at NIDA. He has designed more than 100 productions in Australia and internationally. His opera designs include Don Giovanni, Andrea Chénier, L’Elisir d’Amore (Green Room Award for Best Opera Design), Rinaldo, Tannhäuser, Il trovatore and The Puccini Spectacular. In recent years he has designed for a number of major international events including the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, the Opening Ceremony of the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, and the set design for Adelaide’s Der Ring Des Nibelungen, which
won the 2005 Helpmann award for Best Scenic Design. He was a founding director of the architectural firm D4DESIGN, whose projects have included the award-winning Rockpool Restaurant in Sydney, and the Regents Court Hotel.

Michael is currently designing Stations of the Cross for World Youth Day, to be broadcast internationally in July 2008.
