A founding member of the leading-edge US industrial design firm Smart Design, Dan Formosa specialises in ergonomic research, user interface design, industrial design, product criteria development - and creating positive change through design.

With a degree in industrial design from Syracuse University and a Master's and PhD in ergonomics and biomechanics from New York University, Dan's approach is to apply the principles of universal design to create products that achieve relevance with consumer needs and desires.

For three decades, his firm has been creating informed and inspired design for people and memorable brands for clients, including such household names as Hewlett-Packard, OXO, LG Electronics, Johnson & Johnson, Ford Motors and Microsoft.

Smart Design now has multi-disciplinary, international teams working across offices in New York, San Francisco and Barcelona.
